Who we are
Canadian Assistive Technology and its team have been involved in the Assistive Technology sector for over 35 years. We strive to bring expertise, empathy, and service to our customers while delivering all the Accessibility tools they need in order to be successful in the workplace or engage in their favorite activities in the home.
We provide solutions for a number of different areas including:
- Low Vision,
- Blindness,
- Physical Disabilities,
- Communication Disorders,
- Deaf and Hard of Hearing,
- Elder Care and Dementia.
We provide consultation, sales, support, training and technical services related to the products we represent. We offer a loan pool of demonstration equipment so individuals and employers can try solutions in real world environments prior to making a buying decision.
We also offer free consultation to employers who are considering hiring a person with disabilities and who might have questions about the kinds of accommodations required for success.
Why we are involved
As a distributor of assistive devices, we have found that the best support is provided by the people who use the technology on a day to day basis. In our experience some of our best and most productive employees have been those with lived experience.
Accessibility initiatives
One of the three founding fathers of our company is blind and is in charge of support for our low vision and blindness lines. We have worked with many companies to help bring on board employees with disabilities, working in conjunction with government funding agencies, internal IT departments, HR departments, Occupational Therapists and many more.
We know from experience that people with disabilities often make some of the most productive and loyal long-term employees.
Not only do we live inclusion we also promote inclusion wherever we can.
