The Pacific Autism Family Network (PAFN) is a centre of excellence and network of supports for individuals with ASD and their families across the province. The PAFN’s core purpose is to be a Knowledge Centre: Bringing together state of the art resources for research, information, learning, assessment, treatment and support; and building capacity to address the lifespan needs of individuals with ASD and related disorders. The PAFN will build upon existing lifespan services while at the same time addressing the need for support and services across the province.
Employment is a central part of adult life: it provides financial independence, connects us to our community, and enables increased social connections. Commitment to inclusive employment not only makes good social sense, but it also makes good business sense. Studies have shown that employees with diverse needs have far lower turnover rates and absenteeism rates. Supporting individuals in their pursuit of employment through pre-employment skills training is an essential component of job retention. Helping people find employment is important, but retaining that employment is highly valuable.
