Community Futures British Columbia

Who We Are

The Community Futures Network of British Columbia is the only community driven, non-profit business loan and business development organization made up of 34 Community Futures offices throughout rural British Columbia.

Community Futures Network of British Columbia is mandated to support small business development and rural economic diversification in British Columbia. We actively work with community and business leaders to foster rural economic growth and are partners in building vibrant and sustainable communities.

Different than a bank, Community Futures uses alternate lending criteria, focusing on rural development and providing business financing to small local businesses.

We are funded by the Government of Canada through Pacific Economic Development Canada and have been supporting rural entrepreneurs since 1985.

Each of our 34 Community Futures offices provide flexible and affordable small business loans, business coaching/training services and business management tools for people wanting to start, expand, franchise or sell a rural business.

Why We Are Involved

The Community Futures Entrepreneurs with Disabilities Program (EDP) is a business development program that reduces obstacles that people with disabilities or ongoing health issues may face when looking for financing.

The program celebrated their 25th anniversary in 2022 with the continued funding from PacifiCan and the support of the Community Futures network.

EDP provides specialized assistance to rural and urban entrepreneurs with disabilities.

At Community Futures we believe that managing ongoing health or disability issues should not be a barrier to business success.

This program is designed to make it easier for entrepreneurs with disabilities or ongoing health conditions to pursue their business goals by providing access to a network of business professionals and resources.

Self-employment provides flexible hours, personalized work environments and economic inclusion for individuals who have a viable business idea and are ready, willing and motivated to run their own business.
