The Cultch
Who We Are
The Cultch is Vancouver’s most diverse and innovative arts and cultural hub.
More than a venue, we’re a community committed to exceptional contemporary performance. Our artists are leading voices locally, nationally, and internationally; bringing fresh perspectives from the worlds of theatre, dance, music, circus, and visual arts.
Our staff are skilled arts managers who bring shows to life, connect our communities, and steward educational initiatives for children, youth, and their families.
Our dedicated board brings a range of professional perspectives and lived experiences that they generously volunteer to our organization.
And our loyal patrons, donors, and sponsors are all champions of the performing arts — engaging with us every step of the way. We have done this work, together, for nearly 50 years.
In that time, we’ve built three phenomenal performance spaces in the heart of East Vancouver — The Historic Theatre, Vancity Culture Lab, and The York — as well as our new digital stage, launched in 2020. These are our creation labs, artistic offering spaces, and our connective tissue to the community. The seating spaces are called “the house” for a reason: these are our homes for welcoming all who want to come play with us, in this great joy of live performance.
Why We Are Involved
The Cultch is committed to a barrier-free environment that provides access and dignity. We strive for everyone to have access to productions, programs, employment, and for our diverse community to be reflected in all that we do.
We offer transformative performing arts experiences to as broad an audience as we can and remove physical, social, and financial barriers wherever possible. For those who want to participate, The Cultch is for everyone, everywhere.
