Technical Safety BC

Who We Are

Technical Safety BC is an independent, self-funded organization that oversees the safe installation and operation of technical systems and equipment across the province.

In addition to issuing permits, licences and certificates, we work with industry to reduce safety risks through assessment, education and outreach, enforcement, and research.

Why We Are Involved

Equity, diversity & inclusion is an important part of our culture. Our aspiration to build confidence in a safety system that improves the wellbeing of people throughout the province will only be achieved if everyone can participate.

Through innovative ideas, skills, partnerships, and tools, we are improving how people can easily, equitably, and effectively participate in the safety system. This includes identifying and removing the barriers that limit access.

We have done our 2nd inclusion review and continue to work on the Global Diversity Equity Inclusion Benchmarks and this year we’re implementing steps to enhance our ability to measure DEI demographics to better report year over year how we’re doing on our ESG commitment.

Technical Safety BC is also mandated to meet the phase 1 requirements in the Accessible BC Act as a part of our commitment to be an accessible organization.

Accessibility Initiatives

We’re still fairly new on our accessible employment journey.

We offer the options for accommodation requests, specifically for certification exams and the hiring process in place to help remove barriers to employment and exam certification. We also have an Equity, Diversity & Inclusion ERG.

We’re looking at reviewing and implementing new initiatives, programs, services, etc. that better support accessibility for all.
