Destination British Columbia

Who We Are

Destination BC (DBC), a provincial Crown corporation, leads the marketing of British Columbia as a tourist destination and promotes the development and growth of the provincial tourism industry. Destination BC is focused on attracting overnight visitors to the province and increasing tourism revenues by supporting industry in the development and delivery of remarkable experiences. We work collaboratively with industry, regional, community, and Indigenous partners.

DBC is committed to diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility. We want to ensure British Columbia is a welcoming destination for everyone, and we are building capacity to support more inclusive and accessible tourism products, services, experiences and employment opportunities within the industry.

Why We Are Involved

Our commitment to building a province that is inclusive and welcoming to all travelers is encapsulated in “Toward an Inclusive and Accessible British Columbia Tourism Industry”, a three-year strategic framework and action plan that aims to build capacity within the industry and champion meaningful tourism employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

Destination BC’s commitment to accessibility supports the Government of BC’s goals to elevate BC into the most progressive province in Canada for people with disabilities. Work will complement the Accessible Canada Act, and advance the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD).

Accessibility Initiatives

A top priority for DBC over the past few years has been to reflect on and to elevate our organization’s role and responsibility to advance diversity, equity and inclusion as both an employer and as a tourism industry leader.

DBC welcomes employment applications from all qualified job seekers. We are committed to ensuring workplace accommodations are in place to enable our people to do their best work. DBC has participated in the BC Public Service’s Work Able Internship Program since 2018, offering twelve-month internship opportunities to individuals who self-identify as having a disability.

DBC has provided a number of foundational learning opportunities to all staff.
