Guided by the organization’s values; Respect, Service, Accountability, Integrity and Collaboration, we offer a great place to work with amazing people. The City of Pitt Meadows strives to provide work-life balance for our employees along with a sense of community, proximity to work, and a collaborative work environment. We offer employees a broad municipal experience, with direct impact of their work and contribution featured throughout the City.

We value diversity in the workplace because it allows us the benefit to learn from varied experiences, ideas, cultures and perspectives. It fosters greater creativity, breadth of experience and personal growth among our staff and it’s essential to our success as an organization and to better understand and meet the needs the community we serve. Join our team and make a difference in our community.

We acknowledge with respect and gratitude that the City of Pitt Meadows is located on the traditional, unceded territory of q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie) First Nation who were stewards of this land since time immemorial.

Why We Are Involved

At the City of Pitt Meadows, we strive to foster a workplace culture where every employee feels welcome, safe, a sense of belonging, receives ample support, and forges meaningful connections within our municipal organization.

To remain progressive and impactful as an organization, it is imperative that we acknowledge our past, assess our current situation, and actively pursue necessary changes to propel us forward in a manner that is inclusive, diverse, and equitable for all.

Together, on this journey to advance equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in the workplace, we are committed to creating a safe space for honest reflection, learning, and adjustment. It will not always be a straight path forward—but with dedication, we will step closer to our mission of a friendly, safe, and healthy community that values all people.

We also strive to ensure we are in-line with the recommendations put forward in the Provincial Accessibility Service Delivery Standard and Employment Accessibility Standard.

Accessibility Initiatives

We have implemented “accessibility language” within our hiring, onboarding and training processes.

We are seeking to have all three HR professionals at the City trained by end of this month with the Accessibility Certificate (through Accessible Employers).

Our Emergency Plans consider any and all staff with disabilities.

We have worked with staff to develop individual accommodation plans.

Included our unions in ongoing conversations about ensuring we do not create barriers, and do create a culture of inclusion and accessibility for all staff.
