Who We Are

Carrie Hill Creative is owned and operated by Carrie Hill — a queer, trans non-binary digital and analog lens-based storyteller based in Vancouver, BC.

My mission is to disrupt the status quo by showing my viewers truth in the subjects I explore. Truth that is often left behind in the filter of social media. Truth that more often than not makes people think, or better yet — makes people uncomfortable at first glance.

At Carrie Hill Creative, I tend to focus on creating images that feature mental illness, trauma, ability, poverty, and social justice as I am an individual who lives with mental illness and disability. I have lived experience in poverty and other areas of marginalization, and am passionate about ethics and equitable treatment for people who survive in a world where they exist (and often suffer) in intersecting areas of oppression.

By documenting the often unspoken aspects of the human experience, I can give myself permission to simultaneously connect to other human beings, as well as to preserve significant and often erased moments of our history.

Accessibility Initiatives

I am new on my accessibility journey and thus have not conducted an internal audit of our accessibility measures.

However, the building in which the Carrie Hill Creative studio is located is wheelchair accessible; it has 2 elevators which undergo routine maintenance; we have gender neutral bathrooms and wheelchair-accessible bathrooms, as well!
